“Sofie!”
“What father?”
“I want you to know I love you dearly. I promise that one day I will see you again.”
“But father why can’t you stay here with us?”
“I just have to take care of business so both you and your mother can live the life you deserve.”
“Father I made you this,” said Sofie, as she gives him the paper crane.
“Thank you I love it, but I want you to keep it until I come back”.
Sofie watches her father step foot on the train. The father looks back and sees a tear crawl down his spouse’s cheek. The father takes a seat by the window and reaches for something in his pocket. A picture of when he was a kid with his father and mother. His father gave him this photo when he went to war, so his mother and him could have a better life. His father never came back. In his pocket watch he had a picture of his spouse and daughter. Tears.
